While we were supposed to be debating the films and social consciousness of George A. Romero, we also managed to touch on topics like horror themed porn, and Sharon Stone (and you know those two subjects always go hand-in-hand). Anyway, give a listen by clicking the link below.

On the Air!
Since the name of the game these days is "shameless self promotion", allow me a second to engage in that practice and point you to a podcast featuring yours truly...yes, really, it's me full of caffeine and ready to chat up a storm with the Don Draper of the Horror Blogosphere, Brian Solomon over at Conversations in the Dark at The Vault of Horror. Joining us, was that most charming zombie commandant, Captain Cruella.
While we were supposed to be debating the films and social consciousness of George A. Romero, we also managed to touch on topics like horror themed porn, and Sharon Stone (and you know those two subjects always go hand-in-hand). Anyway, give a listen by clicking the link below.

Gay Men Trapped in the Body of a Female Horror Blogger 4 :Christine Hadden (AKA Marty Sylvester)
Tuesday's Gay Man Trapped in the Body of a Female Horror Blogger is that mistress of mayhem and proprietress of the blog, Fascination With Fear, Christine Hadden. Chris is a fan of all things equestrian, a noted grammar Nazi, Vampire lover, and, as we just discovered, man of letters, murder mystery fanatic, dandy, and gladiator movie enthusiast.
We caught up with Christine at the Rainbow Camp Grounds last summer where she was clearing some land for an afternoon poetry reading and Steve Reeves film festival:
1: Everyone knows your Female Horror Blogger Name, what's the name of the Gay Man Trapped inside?
Marty Sylvester. He likes using his old word processor, sexy French accents, murder mystery weekends, and most especially - movies about gladiators.
2: Does your inner Gay Man ever affect your opinion on the films you are watching, and if so, how?
Sometimes I get a little too emotional when watching something and wonder just who that is inside me that makes me weep when poor Johnny Depp is sucked into the bed of doom in NOES. And you know, I'm always looking for a bit of man-on-man action - what is up with that? I mean seriously, wouldn't the remake of My Bloody Valentine have benefited from a steamy little scene between Jensen Ackles and Kerr Smith? Hells yeah!
3: How will you be celebrating Women in Horror Month this February? Do you celebrate it? If not, why not?
Last year I had a post about a Female Villain in Horror on my blog every single day of February. I loved doing it but it just about killed me. This year I am bogged down with my (real-life) job, so it's just not possible. I fully support WiH and love the attention that it brings to all the great work being done by women in this genre - though sometimes I feel as though we should be appreciating what women do all year round. But it's nice to shine the spotlight regardless. On a personal note, I am part of an up-coming all-female written issue of PARACINEMA, which will quite possibly be out this month to coordinate with WiH- so I'm pretty proud of that.
4: More importantly, how will you be celebrating Gay Pride Month this June?
Being from a small town isn't always conducive to tolerance and open-mindedness, so there is a lot of closeted folks around here I fear. I however, am as liberal and unprejudiced a person as you'll find, so I am open to pretty much anything. Suggestions, please?? If I lived closer to California, I would so be making a trek to San Fran this June to check out that naked bike ride I've heard so much about. Woot!
5: Is there a Grande Dame Moment in any horror film these days - some over-the-top performance by an actress akin to Bette Davis in “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane”?
There's a whole lot of over-the-top going on in horror these days, but there is a blatant difference between GOOD over-the-top and just pure excessive crap. No one can touch Bette Davis, but I sure did appreciate Ted Levine's sexy little dance in The Silence of the Lambs.
6: Who would your inner Gay Man like to see running around naked in a horror film?
Most certainly Joe Manganiello, who plays Alcide on True Blood. If you don't know who he is I only have one word for you: Google.
7: Who would your outer Female Horror Blogger like to see running around naked in a horror film?
Much as I love Johnny Depp, I don't really have a wish to see him naked. Hence, my answer is Timothy Olyphant. But I'd like him to wear the hat from Justified please. And if he were to be accompanied in his nakedness by one Chris Hemsworth - I wouldn't have a problem with that.
8: How do you balance the over-all-fabulousness of blogging with the more mundane aspects, that is your life?
I watch Glee. It grounds me and forces me to sing show tunes in the shower. And when I need to decompress, I watch episodes of Spartacus. Sue us, Marty and I both like men in loin cloths, okay?
9: Do you think that there are some Lesbians Trapped in the Body of Straight Male Horror Bloggers?
There might be, but they will never (ever) admit it.
10: Gay or Straight, Trapped or Out: What is your view on Horror Blogging in General these days?
There are a hefty number of bloggers out there that think they are the next coming of Christ as far as horror entertainment goes, and it really amuses me. To think so highly of one's self is to be a detriment to your reputation. Please stop the Yoda crap.
I blog because I love horror and I have an inherent need to write. I'm thankful for the opportunities that have come my way, and even more thankful for the great friendships I have formed over the last few years with people of like minds. But... I hate shitty reviews about really bad films and hate shittier grammar even more, so there's a whole lot out there I just avoid. But that's the joy of it - with blogging, you can put whatever you want out there. Whether or not people read it, that's just icing on the cake.
11: BONUS QUESTION: It's Friday Night, what are we drinking bitches?
Bourbon, baby. Always bourbon. Straight. While wearing big, gaudy, "goin' to the Derby'-style hats of course.

Gay Men Trapped in the Body of a Female Horror Blogger 3 : Kristy Jett ( AKA Twinkey Bear)
Today's profile of a Gay Man Trapped in the Body of a Female Horror Blogger is that force of nature known as Kristy Jett. Blog-mistress, horror-glad-rags-pusher, bad ass, and, revealed here for the first time, a John Water's loving - Joseph Gordon Levitt stalking Bear Cub.
We caught up with Kristy at the Eagle Bar in New York City last weekend... put on your protective gear and read what she had to say:
1: Everyone knows your Female Horror Blogger Name, what's the name of the Gay Man Trapped inside?
Twinkey Bear
2: Does your inner Gay Man ever color your opinion on the films you are watching, and if so, how?
My inner gay man is a bear who looks to be about 16 years old (just look at me!), so I tend to let him roll with the punches and enjoy tons of exploitation films like Black Shampoo and Bare Behind Bars. Let us not get started on my love and affinity for John Waters films- especially Divine!
3: How will you be celebrating Women in Horror Month this February? Do you celebrate it? If not, why not?
Oh do I celebrate Women In Horror Month! I treat every month like Women In Horror month by supporting all of my fellow gals in Horror, as often as I can...which is every day :) This month I am celebrating my working on my own portfolio, not selfishly, but to get more exposure to women in the Horror biz. I have upcoming articles in Paracinema Magazine, Ax Wound Zine (created by Women In Horror month founder, Hannah Neurotica), HorrorHound Magazine and Fangoria Magazine!
4: More importantly, how will you be celebrating Gay Pride Month this June?
I will be celebrating gay pride month by watching Showgirls over and over again in honor of my wonderful friend, celebrity manager, Mikey Perez. In addition to that I will be further screaming out loud about how insane it is that it isn't 100% legal for same sex couples to marry everywhere in the world. And attending the Rochester Gay Pride parade- Rochester has an amazing Gay community, including the Image Out Film Festival which features all LGBT films!
5: Is there a Grande Dame Moment in any horror film these days - some over-the-top performance by an actress akin to Bette Davis in “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane”?
Princess in The Loved Ones! One of the articles I am working on for Ax Wound is all about her. She is the fiercest cunt I have come across in a long time...aside from me of course!
6: Who would your inner Gay Man like to see running around naked in a horror film?
My inner bear loves cute, scrawny pretty boys, so let's say Joseph Gordon Levitt....I would ride him sore.
7: Who would your outer Female Horror Blogger like to see running around naked in a horror film?
My female blogger loves scrawny nerdy boys- give me Michael Cera or Jesse Eisenberg! I love a boy with a lisp....rawr.
8: How do you balance the over-all-fabulousness of blogging with the more mundane aspects that is your life?
THERE IS A WORLD OUTSIDE OF BLOGGING?! Oh wait, nevermind, silly me...that's Brandon Sites answer. My answer is...I forget, what was the question?
9: Do you think that there are some Lesbians Trapped in the Body of Straight Male Horror Bloggers?
I mean this in the most complimentary way, and only because they are so supportive of females- James Cortez (Planet of Terror), Zach Shildwachter (Z for Zombies) and John Squires (Freddy In Space). Those three guys right there, make me proud to be a blogger/sitester just because they raise the female flag so high and are such righteous feminists!
10: Gay or Straight, Trapped or Out: What is your view on Horror Blogging in General these days?
To anybody who cares about writing and spreading their love of Horror it is still a beautiful arena to share the passion and make new friends and peers. Sadly to most (Brandon Sites, Rhonny Rheaper, Aleata Illusion, Cruella Moxham) it's all a race to see who can make themselves cyber famous first. Newsflash: You will never get famous the way you are trying to. Secondly, learn how to spell, use grammar, stop selling your souls for screeners, stop cutting, some of you should stop plagiarizing, remember there were films before Saw, reviews should be more than two sentences long if you want to be taken seriously, there is a life outside of dressing like a zombie 24/7, everyone is sick of zombie walks and most of all, pull your heads out of each other's asses. Nobody outside of a small corner of the blogosphere has any idea who you are. We're all nobodies, don't forget that.
11: BONUS QUESTION: It's Friday Night, what are we drinking bitches?
KAHLUA!

Gay Men Trapped in the Body of a Female Horror Blogger 2: Brittney-Jade Colangelo (AKA Jude Winchester)
Our next Gay Man Trapped in the Body of a Female Horror Blogger is the multi tasking Queen (and I do mean Queen) of the fucking world, Brittney-Jade Colangelo. BJ runs the much loved blog, Day of the Woman . She's also got her irons in a dozen other fires. When not twirling batons higher, further and faster than Suzanne Sugarbaker ever dreamed; Ms. Colangelo's Inner Gay Male is a fierce drag queen! But don't take our word for it, let's hear from Miss Thang herself:
1: Everyone knows your Female Horror Blogger Name, what's the name of the Gay Man Trapped inside? My gay man's name is Jude Winchester, he's a tall British man with a penchant for red wine, middle eastern tapestry, Judy Garland, Tim Curry, and Steinbeck novels. However his alter ego drag name is Stella Elixir. She's a fierce bitch with the ability to turn any man her way with a flick of her four inch fingernails. It's a pleasure to meet you.
2: Does your inner Gay Man ever color your opinion on the films you are watching, and if so, how?
You know, I try to separate the two/three of us as much as humanly possible...but God damn it if I'm not a sucker for Kevin Bacon in F13 if only for that award winning bulge. It also becomes quite difficult for me not to desire someone to die simply because they have awful hair, an annoying voice, camel toe/tail, or horrible wit. This is also why Tina in Nightmare on Elm Street should have survived. Woman has a tongue as sharp as my stiletto pumps.
3: How will you be celebrating Women in Horror Month this February? Do you celebrate it? If not, why not?
Of course! I've been celebrating by promoting as many events as humanly possible and creating lists with so much Girl Power, the Spice Girls want to sue me for copyright infringement. Jude, however, thinks that by drawing so much attention to the differences in the sexes that I'm hindering the progress of women. Psh, men.
4: More importantly, how will you be celebrating Gay Pride Month this June?
Is that even a question?! I'm going to the pride marches, holding a nude bake sale, offering complimentary Brazilian waxes for any and all lesbians who are ready to trim the hedges, and I'm currently casting for an all-male Broadway tribute to DALLAS.
5: Is there a Grande Dame Moment in any horror film these days - some over-the-top performance by an actress akin to Bette Davis in “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane”?
I'm insulted you would even try to put Bette Davis in the same category as anyone other than Bette Davis. I'm so insulted, I can't even answer this question. I hope you're ashamed of yourself.
6: Who would your inner Gay Man like to see running around naked in a horror film?
Sign me up for a slice of Johnathan Rhys Meyers and Matthew Morrison! Please and thank you!
7: Who would your outer Female Horror Blogger like to see running around naked in a horror film?
Mila Kunis and Jim Sturgess. Over and over and over again. I was SO close in Black Swan, and it was more Portman than Kunis. I R Disapoint.
8: How do you balance the over-all-fabulousness of blogging with the more mundane aspects that is your life?
I've hired a small Himalayan woman named Emesta who does all of my filing, emailing, phone messaging, scheduling, and she's gotten really good at telling people "I'm in a meeting" when I'm really just playing Robot Unicorn Attack or creeping on Facebook.
9: Do you think that there are some Lesbians Trapped in the Body of Straight Male Horror Bloggers?
No. Men don't have the desires to wear Birkenstocks...ever.
10: Gay or Straight, Trapped or Out: What is your view on Horror Blogging in General these days?
I think horror blogging in general has lost that lovin' feeling. A majority of bloggers have become more concerned with becoming this pseudo e-celebrities instead of actually blogging. Horror blogs are filled with mediocre reviews of "AMAZING!" films that are actually not even qualified to wipe one's ass.
11: BONUS QUESTION: It's Friday Night, what are we drinking bitches?
PINEAPPLE VODKATINI'S!!!!!

Gay Men Trapped in the Body of a Female Horror Blogger 1 : Andre Dumas (AKA Babs McNealy)
Someone went and made February "Women in Horror Month" - I am not sure who this person was, or what their motive may have been but here at Billy Loves Stu we love a meaningless celebration as much as the next guy. We also love certain Female Horror Bloggers who are so FABULOUS, they must really be Gay Men Trapped in the Body of a Female Horror Blogger.
Our first subject is the lovely and talented muscle stud, Andre Dumas who runs The Horror Digest. Andre recently sat down with us at BLS International Headquarters after a grueling work-out session at Gold's Gym and had this to say:
1: Everyone knows your Female Horror Blogger Name, what's the name of the Gay Man Trapped inside?
Babs McNealy
2: Does your inner Gay Man ever color your opinion on the films you are watching, and if so, how?
Occasionally I find that although a film may encapsulate what we in the business like to call, "great film-making"---it could still quite possibly benefit from the presence of a song and dance number. Imagine the possibilities of Norman Bates for instance, in the midst of an ambush wearing his mother's dress and a bad wig...imagine if he broke out in song and dance. Brilliance? I think so.
3: How will you be celebrating Women in Horror Month this February? Do you celebrate it? If not, why not?
I will celebrate by attending WiH month film festivals in Boston and by running naked through the streets on my lunch break. I celebrate it for a number of reasons not because I am a woman, but because women in the horror biz are often looked over. Mostly I refer to the directorial side of the horror industry and even smaller things like women writers in print. Although I have a man's name, I always find it funny that so many of my readers assume that I am a man--even though I use terms like My VAGINA on a daily basis and talk about my cat a lot. There is also a picture of me on the sidebar. It's just one of those small things that so wonderfully points out how people are so quick to make judgments. It's the same way people for some reason always immediately refer to people's pets as a "he" without knowing.
4: More importantly, how will you be celebrating Gay Pride Month this June?
I'm from the Cape, and it is very possible that I will be attending the gay pride parade in Provincetown. I have not been to this since 8th grade which believe it or not--is where I saw my first real life penis. On a disco fever float, in which a man sitting down scantily clad in a silver mini skirt, was not wearing panties. Ah, memories.
5: Is there a Grande Dame Moment in any horror film these days - some over-the-top performance by an actress akin to Bette Davis in “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane”?
When Vincent Cassell donned a wig and a dress and played his pregnant sister in Sheitan? Does that count? Hmmm if not than maybe most recent I would possibly suggest Natalie Portman in Black Swan. Over the top in all the right places though---and exquisite.
6: Who would your inner Gay Man like to see running around naked in a horror film?
Daniel Craig...mmmmm
7: Who would your outer Female Horror Blogger like to see running around naked in a horror film?
Still, Daniel Craig.
8: How do you balance the over-all-fabulousness of blogging with the more mundane aspects that is your life?
Taking a daily Multi-Vitamin is very important. Also, lately when blogging and writing gets to be a little too much sometimes, I put on ABBA and the Village People and dance around the kitchen like a maniac. It really helps.
9: Do you think that there are some Lesbians Trapped in the Body of Straight Male Horror Bloggers?
Hmmm I don't recall too many lesbians ranking the greatness of a horror movie on how many times someone gets naked. BUT most of the straight male horror bloggers I know do have class--and so do lesbians so yes, definitely.
10: Gay or Straight, Trapped or Out: What is your view on Horror Blogging in General these days?
Horror blogging often gets misinterpreted as a giant cry for attention or as a vehicle for self promotion. While I do believe that happens more than I would like to see--I think horror blogging in general does a lot more than people give it credit for. More often than not, people want to read reviews written by people that do not feature pop up ads of the very film they are reviewing. Or they want to divulge in a little creativity from time to time instead of the same old boring news stories. Blogging allows for that freedom. Sometimes I don't italicize movie titles not because I'm lazy but because I can! Also sometimes I use run on sentences and it feels really good.
11: BONUS QUESTION: It's Friday Night, what are we drinking bitches?
I'm partial to anything that involves gin, but cheap beer will always be in heart forever.

What I Enjoyed in 2010
Don't worry this is not one of those "best of" lists that everyone and their brother churns out at year's end. This is just a look back at what I personally enjoyed in the realm of horror (or near horror) .
The first thing that comes to my mind was that dream sequence in True Blood...the one that found Sam the shape-shifter and Bill the vampire eye to eye, chest to chest...
... good lord that scene gave me a case of the vapors...the only thing that would have made it better was if Alcide, the hunky werewolf, showed up and joined the party!
Speaking of True Blood. How about that nasty Rolling Stone Cover that featured Anna Paquin (Sookie) sandwiched between Stephen Moyer (Bill) and Alexander Skarsgård (Eric) ?
Meanwhile, while the horny, magically inclined folk of Bon Temps were having wild times, AMC rocked my world when it presented The Walking Dead, an intelligent and terrifying miniseries that suddenly made zombies scary again.
And I'd like to give the producers of this magnificent show a round of applause for giving me Jon Bernthal (Shane Walsh) as someone else I can stalk admire.
Oh yeah, I did see a few films this year...maybe they all were not released in 2010, but I enjoyed 'em. Some of my faves included...
...The Last Exorcism ( review here)...
... Monsters (review here)
Mother (review here)...
The Fourth Kind (review here)...
The Eclipse (review here)...
The Possession of David O'Reilly (review here)...
Pornography (review here) ...
This past October, I saw a brilliant, comedic, live adaptation of Carrie presented at Underground Arts at the Wolf Building in Philadelphia. This high camp, low budget production had to be one of the most creative things I've experienced in a quite some time. Sheer brilliance, sez I !
Carrie, The Play (review here)
And finally, I'd like to thank Nate Yapp of Cinema Geek for kindly inviting me to join the fun by becoming a contributor to his excellent blog. Finally, I find myself in respectable company. About time!

2010: The Year I Brought Down Horror Blips, and Other Stuff...
2010 is almost a wrap, and here at BLS International it was an historical and rewarding year.
Probably one of the biggest thrills was the fact that for several weeks last Summer, BLS was The Number One Blog according to Horror Blips; but joy soon turned to sadness when, without any warning, Horror Blips vanished from the web. While I don't know what happened, I like to think that I somehow had something to do with its untimely death.
Whatever the case, it's always nice to go out on top.
This was also the year that I rolled out the Union of Independent Horror Bloggers.
Inspired from postings by both B-Sol and Iloz Zoc, I felt it was time to put the money where the mouth is (so to speak), and set up some guidelines for those who are writing about horror in popular media. Did it work? I can't really say, but quite a few folks jumped on the bandwagon at the time.
April 1st saw the release of the most talked about horror film of the year, Manic Monday.
Needless to say, director Dex Baxter's mind-fuck of a film put the horror blogosphere into a tizzy as witnessed by the rave reviews that you can find HERE.
Unfortunately, due to legal disputes and some rather unsavory goings on, Baxter's film was pulled from distribution the very next day and has yet to go into wide release.
Last June, TMZ reported that the producers of Manic Monday, rounded up every print and had them destroyed amongst rumors of diabolical disturbances and the untimely deaths of the film's lead actors shortly after the film was completed.
Gay Pride Month was celebrated in style at BLS with terrific guest postings, rundowns of horror films every gay man should see, horror actors who have turned to porn, dead hunks, letters from camp, suburban witches of the 60's, Lauren Bacall croaking her way thorough a Broadway-based slasher film, Joan Crawford chewing the scenery, and the truth behind Peter and Roger's relationship in Dawn of the Dead.
In late July of this past year, I loosed upon the interwebs, The First Ever Billy Loves Stu Meme for Horror Bloggers, and the response was overwhelming! In fact we even had some non-horror bloggers join in on the fun.
Click Here to take a look at some of the fine folks who decided to take part in this little experiment.

All in all it's been a pretty good year - and every day, I count my blessings to be among such talented and twisted company (I'm talking about my fellow horror bloggers out there), the men and women who toil endlessly getting the word out on those things that go bump in the dark; the movies, books, plays and anything else that sends a shiver up their collective spine. If you want to see some really good stuff, go to the right of this article and scroll on down to my list of favorite blogs (The Children of the Night), there you will find like-minded friends and fiends who will delight you, no doubt, with their wit, wisdom and way with words.9/4/10
Like no business I know : Popcorn
Intrigued by the podcast I heard today over at The Vault of Horror, in which Vault Master, B-Sol and Mistress of Mayhem, Kristy Jett, spent some time reminiscing fondly about 1991's rarely seen, Popcorn - I felt it was time to hit up Netflix and see what all the hubbub was about. Actually, I saw Popcorn when it first came out in 1992, but frankly I only barely remembered it.
Today seemed a good day to rediscover this film.
Set in sunny LA at the dawn of the 90's, Popcorn is an ambitious, clever, mess of a film that tells the tale of a group of film students who decide to run a series of William Castle-like films one night at an abandoned movie palace so that they can raise money to fund some their own projects. While going through some props for the big night's festivities they come across a film tin that features a rather trippy short named, The Possessor. Problem is that the maker of this odd ball short was a Kenneth Anger / Anton LeVey-like-freak named Lanyard Gates who apparently sacrificed his wife and daughter on stage at the only showing of The Possessor. Oh, did I mention that one of the main characters has been having dreams about Lanyard Gates? Well, now I did. Be that as it may, the show must go on, and once the movies start playing, it seems that we've got a homicidal stalker hell bent on ruining the film going experience (or maybe enhancing it?).
With a cast including 80's B-Movie queen, Jill Schoelen ; America's favorite Mom, Dee Wallace; Woody Allen's Annie Hall confidant, Tony Roberts; and the inimitable, Ray Walston; as well as an ambitious story line, one would suspect that Popcorn might have been a contender - and it comes damn close! Unfortunately, there seems to be so many themes that the movie's makers were trying to cobble together that they sort of lost sight of their ultimate goal ... or maybe it all just got lost in the sauce. While watching Popcorn, I could not figure exactly what genre film this really was - Slasher? Supernatural Thriller? Parody? Satire? Murder Mystery? - Frankly, it seemed like a combination of all of these genres - and while that's not a bad thing, it's something that might have been better served with a tighter script and some better acting (Roberts seems to be phoning in his performance, Walston, while delightful, is in the movie for all of five minutes, and Schoelen, well, I was never a fan of hers, she always seemed flat, and here she's like a desert highway). But before you give up hope, hold out and hold on, because the late great Tom Villard nearly saves Popcorn during the11th hour. Seriously, Villard seemed like a heady mix of Jim Carrey in Mask and Vincent Price in Theater of Blood. What a talented guy he was, and what a shame we lost him to AIDS back in 1994.
When all is said and done, you could do far worse than checking out Popcorn and its loony plot that echoes everything from The Phantom of the Opera, to The Abominable Dr. Phibes, to A Nightmare on Elm Street. I say overlook the flaws, the plot holes and the less than stellar acting, and just go with it; while a few of the kernels might not have popped, it's still a tasty, trashy treat.

IMAGES OF DANCE IN HORROR FILMS
Another day, another meme! This one is an image driven affair in which the tagged (or infected) choose a theme in film and display photo evidence of said theme. This all began at the blog, Checking My Sausages, and has since found it's way to me thanks to my darling "daughter", B-JC from Day of the Woman.
Rather than settle on the routine, I decided to look for something a tad different in fright films; what about when the characters refrain from blood letting and get a case of Happy Feet? Without further ado, let's face the music and dance...

Let Me Entertain You ... I'm Very Versatile
Ah, that little vixen The Person You Benefit From Knowing, just sent me one of those damn blogger awards... you know the drill, tell us 7 things people don't know about you, pass on the award... well, after a morning of dental hijinx, I don't know if I really want to play by the rules, you dig? So here's what I am going to do: I am going to post 7 things, and it's up to you to decide which are fact and which are fiction (hint, three will be true, four of them will not). Then I will "Pay Forward" the award minus any linkage; now we will see who's really coming here, and who just skims and never really reads. If you do find your blog mentioned then go for it!CAN YOU TELL FACT FROM FICTION?
1: I went to seminary school.
2: I have two adult children.
3: I was almost killed in a car accident in 1984.
4: I smoked a joint with Iggy Pop in front of CBGB's on a very cold winter's night in 1978.
5: I am about to have an essay published in a book of essays coming out this fall.
6: I am totally blind in my left eye.
7: I voted for George W. Bush in both elections that he was eligible.
AND THE WINNERS ARE
1: I'M NOT PATTY (love this blog).
2: CINEMA STYLES (cause Greg F rocks my world)
3: THE WGON HELICOPTER (i know, everyone knows about this terrific blog, well, I just discovered it!)
4: THE QUEST TO WATCH EVERY MOVIE EVER MADE (i mean, talk about aiming high!).
5: NOW KINDLY UNDO THESE STRAPS (because this is what mad genius looks like).
6: SLASHER FILM SANCTUARY (because if i give him this award, maybe the bitch will get off his cute but lazy ass and start posting some more!)
7: THE LAVENDER LAIR OF HORROR: (because one can never have too many gay horror blogs!)
right, now let's see if any of our esteemed winners even notice they won!

Sing Out, Steve!
Steven Senski, proprietor of the blog, Heart in a Jar, is my latest object of affection.
"Why's that ? ", you might ask. The answer is simple - he's a freaking genius! Lately, Mr. Senski has been crafting musical numbers set to popular pop or Broadway tunes for a project that one hopes will one day grace the Great White Way. This appears to be an ongoing project, but if you want to experience genius in its starting phases, then get to clicking these links!

The Meme without a Blog
Seems like everyone wanted in on my little meme (rhymes with cream, btw) that I cooked up yesterday - even someone with out a blog!
"But Pax", I can hear you exclaiming, "everyone has a horror blog these days! Even my great grandmother posts about favorite fright films on her blog, "Granny's Grand Guignol of Gore!" "
Well, calm down, I say, and behold the sad tale of one, Ms. Kristy Jett. It seems that Ms. Jett, while affiliated with certain blogs, magazines and online publications, does not have her own blog proper! Shocking, I know, but true. Be that as it may, and since I am a sucker for sob story - I would like to present Ms. Jett's answers to the Horror Bloggers Meme that I posted yesterday - but first, a bio about our guest poster:
Born, Juinta Marie Simpatico O'Brien in a small mining community in England, Kristy Jett came to world wide recognition when she left the old country and relocated to the states sometime in the early 80's where she married several wealthy men (who all died mysteriously and left her their fortunes). Today she spends her spare time working for Fright Rags (reportedly the finest horror t-shirt sweat shop in the nation), as well as contributing to Dread Central, The Blood Sprayer, The Dreamin Demon and Freddy In Space. This fall she will be published in Paracinema Magazine and Ax Wound Magazine. It is also reported Ms. Jett has worked in the radio broadcasting industry and is fond of juice boxes ... and of course their is that pending law suit that you might have read about in some of your sleazier tabloids, but we won't talk about that today: Take it away Kristy!
But I do write for some amazing Horror sites/blogs such as Dread Central, The Blood Sprayer, The Dreamin Demon and Freddy In Space!
5: What horror film "franchise" that others have embraced, left you cold?
6: Is Michael Bay the Antichrist?
He's as close to it as anyone else I can think of. Filmmaker wise anyways. General public goes to Nancy Grace.
13: If you found out that Rob Zombie was reading your blog, what would you post in hopes that he read it?
15: If blogging technology did not exist, what would you be doing?
Having hand cramps from all the writing. Hopefully somebody would have ye olde writers corner or something haha
1: In Ten Words or Less, Describe Your Blog:
I don't have one :(But I do write for some amazing Horror sites/blogs such as Dread Central, The Blood Sprayer, The Dreamin Demon and Freddy In Space!
2: During What Cinematic Era Where you Born?
A: The Classic Horror Era (late 30's to 40's)
B: The Atomic Monster/Nuclear Angst Era (the late 40's through 50's)
C: The Psycho Era ( Early 60's)
D: The Rosemary's Baby Era (Mid to Late 60's)
E: The Exorcism Era (Early to mid 70's)
F: The Halloween Era (Late 70's to Early 80's)
G: The Slasher Era (Mid to late 80's)
H: The Self Referential/Post Modern Era (1990 to 1999)
F. Born in 1981 baby
3: The Carrie Compatibility Question:
(gay men and straight women - make your choice from section A)
A: Billy Nolan or Tommy Ross, who would you take to the prom?
(straight guys and lesbians - make your choice from section B)
B: Sue Snell or Chris Hargensen, who would you take to the prom?
Tommy Ross all the way. His hair was lame but his personality was quite nice. And I mean hell, who wouldn't want to date a guy who was rugged but whipped? I could've gotten him to do my bidding EASILY.
4: You have been given an ungodly amount of money, and total control of a major motion picture studio - what would your dream Horror project be?
I would force Sam Raimi to make Evil Dead 4. I loved seeing Sam get back to his Horror roots with Drag Me To Hell, and I'd love to see Sam direct Bruce in a starring role again. ED4 will likely be made anyways, so I'd just want to ensure Sam was in the drivers seat!
5: What horror film "franchise" that others have embraced, left you cold?
I guess I will have to go with the Saw franchise. While I loved the first and liked the second, everything else has just become more and more ridiculous. Anyone who still goes to these films and expects anything other than what the previous got them is missing something...
6: Is Michael Bay the Antichrist?
He's as close to it as anyone else I can think of. Filmmaker wise anyways. General public goes to Nancy Grace.
7: Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Frankenstein Monster - which one of these classic villains scares you, and why?
Dracula, because he can fly and creep into my room when I'm sleeping. Frankenstein is always Frank from The Monster Squad to me, so he's my friend in my mind. I am close personal friends with the Wolfman. His real name is John Squires and he runs a horror blog called Freddy In Space, look him up!
8: Tell me about a scene from a NON HORROR Film that scares the crap out of you:
The scene in Labyrinth, when Sarah is with those fire creatures. They are intensely scary! This coming from the girl who still has troubles with the penguins on the old beer commercials...creeptastic!
9: Baby Jane Hudson invites you over to her house for lunch. What do you bring?
A pillow, because I just know once we get to know each other, we'll become bff's and she'll ask me to stay for a slumber party!
10: So, between you and me, do you have any ulterior motives for blogging? Come, on you can tell me, it will be our little secret, I won't tell a soul.
Yes I do! I will speak in terms of the Blood Sprayer. I want to(and have) a staff full of some of the most talented bloggers out there. I feel like we have one of the best written sites out there because indeed we have talented bloggers who crafted their writing, and it's a seamless transition from what they do to our site. It's one big Horror blog!
11: What would you have brought to Rosemary Woodhouse's baby shower?
Where is she registered?
Where is she registered?
12: Godzilla vs The Cloverfield Monster, who wins?
Godzilla! I don't have a good reason, but it'd definitely be him...
13: If you found out that Rob Zombie was reading your blog, what would you post in hopes that he read it?
I would do a long article on Fright Rags (the shirt company I work for) in the hopes that he wanted to wear out shirts full time, maybe a nice little walking billboard I could make with one stellar piece on our shirts haha
14: What is your favorite NON HORROR FILM, and why?
Bottle Rocket! It is my favorite film of all time. One of the main reasons why that film does it for me is the character of Dignan as played by Owen Wilson. A 12 year old trapped in a mans body with the adventures to prove it!
15: If blogging technology did not exist, what would you be doing?
Having hand cramps from all the writing. Hopefully somebody would have ye olde writers corner or something haha

The First Ever Billy Loves Stu Meme for Horror Bloggers

When I started this blog way back in 2007, there were only a handful of horror blogs - today, (well, the last time I checked) there are 588,933,041 horror blogs out there. Seriously! Would I lie about something like this? I figure that EVERYONE who has watched a scary movie, thriller, sci/fi, or slasher film wants the world to know their opinion on said film ... and so now the world knows that Horrophanatic666, who runs the blog, 666 Reasons Why I Love Horror believes that Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan is the most AMAZING film ever made.
I thought it might be a nifty idea, if I created a Meme for horror bloggers to complete so that the next time someone stumbles across the electronic journal of a burgeoning Pauline Kael, or Stephen King-wanna-be; the reader might get a better idea of where this bloody blogger is coming from. So, without further ado, here is ...
The First Ever Billy Loves Stu Meme for Horror Bloggers
(my answers, obviously, are being supplied, but feel free to rip this off and add your own!)
1: In Ten Words or Less, Describe Your Blog:

14: What is your favorite NON HORROR FILM, and why?
15: If blogging technology did not exist, what would you be doing?
OK, have at it kids...and if you'd like to see my answers, continue on:
1:A poorly written blog by a gay horror film fan...
2: 1958 is my birth year, that would place me in B The Atomic Monster / Nuclear Angst Era.
3: Tommy Ross, for sure...oh to run my fingers through that tangle of golden hair!
4: I would mount a major motion picture of Stephen King's the Stand. It would be a painfully faithful adaption of the novel. There would be NO big stars in it, however, I would have the film broken down into three separate releases with three different directors attached. George Romero would have Part I (Captain Trips),Robert Rodriguez would direct Part II (On the Boarder), and Paul Thomas Anderson would helm part III (The Stand).
5: The Saw Films - probably the most dreadful, stink-out-loud tripe I have ever seen. Also The Friday the 13th Films. I really enjoyed Friday1, but all the logic went out the window with the sequels ... I mean, come on, if Jason was actually alive, what was Mrs. Voorhees' motivation about?
6: Michael Bay leaves the smell of sulfur in his wake.
7: Dracula! You only had to worry about The Wolfman during a full moon, The Frankenstein Monster was slow and could easily be outrun, but Dracula was suave and calculating. If he really wanted you, you were toast.
8: I've mentioned this before; the creepy homeless person who lives behind the dumpster in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive. I've been haunted by that freak ever since I first saw the film.
9: Six bottles of scotch and three bottles of gin. Oh and a box of chocolates for Miss Blanche and a helmet for Elvira.
10: My motives are as pure as the driven snow...
11: Baby talon clippers, a hooded onesie and a copy of Dr. Spock's baby book.
12: Godzilla's laser breath would probably finish off The Cloverfield Monster, and if not, Godzilla could always drop kick the bastard back into the Hudson.
13: I would post an open letter to him, begging him to quit the white trash horror thing and go back to making music. Oh, and I'd also tell him to take a shower.
14: The Godfather. Amen.
15: I would probably be foaming at the mouth, drinking to excess and chain smoking. Blogging is such a great stress relief.
