Seven Minutes of Mind Blowing Imagery: SMOKE

I was recently contacted by Grzegorz Cisiecki, the screenwriter and director of a short film titled, Smoke (Dym).  He wrote me and asked if I would view his film - and I did.

When I was through, I did not know what to make of what I'd just seen.  So I watched it again.

Still unsure of what the point was, I watched a third and fourth time - but to no avail.  Maybe I'm that dense.  However, as much as I was confused about what I was seeing, I was hypnotized by the beauty - the dream-like sensuality, and the overall composition.

With very obvious nods to David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick and Ingmar Bergman; Smoke will mesmerize and confound the viewer and stay with him or her long after the final haunting image.

But don't take my word for it, have a look-see.

Prepare to have your mind blown:

I reviewed this recently and I too was a bit confounded by it. I came to the conclusion that the entire point of the film is in the title, Smoke, which is something that's not easy to grasp and doesn't follow any particular path. Either way, it's quite impressive on a technical level, and I'd certainly like to see more work from the director.
